“You are the sun in my day, the wind in my sky, the waves in my ocean, and the beat in my heart.” We are classic romantics and for our first De La Vida Bride blog, we share Sanmari and Pierre’s love story, a classic romantic fairytale. True high school sweethearts who wed on the 17th of March (St Patrick’s Day, a LUCKY day) 2017. Unaware at the time of the symbolism of the 17th, it was destined to be.
Sanmari and Pierre experienced a meet-cute at Pierre’s school 8 years ago. In true classic romantic fashion, Pierre asked Sanmari out on their first date, the venue? Pierre’s matric dance! They soon found that they balanced each other perfectly, Sanmari describing herself as the organized, detail oriented, emotional and highly stressed person whereas Pierre; focused, to the point, humble and impassive.
Staying true to their classic romantic roots. Pierre flew Sanmari to Cape Town on her Birthday (17th of April). He took her for a High-Tea at the One and Only. Sanmari’s suspicions started growing when the waitress went to their table and Pierre said he had a meeting. She states that she was quite disappointed when he stood up and said they were leaving.
As they arrived at their next destination Sanmari saw a pick nick spot set up. Pierre started talking and saying how extremely happy he is and after that, it all all went blank. “The moment was so overwhelming that till today I cannot remember a thing he said while proposing, all I could hear was waves (as if someone placed a shell over my ear). Just after the proposal a photographer showed up and said she is going to have a mini shoot with us (he arranged everything).”
Sanmari knew she wanted a Pronovias wedding dress right from the start, specifying that Pronovias fashion was laced with variety, high-end quality and the lace was just divine. She had her first fitting at our bridal boutique located in Sandton and arrived prepared with 10 printouts of her favorite dress styles displaying all things classic romantic. When sitting down with her qualified stylist; Cassandra, for her consultation, she showed and described exactly what she was looking for. Sanmari’s stylist then advised her to try on a particular dress: “as I stepped out to show my mom and sister I felt like a bride. No dress after that could trump that first one. I found my dress and it’s just because Cassandra summed me up from first sight.”
Sanmari and Pierre were married at Memoire’s magical wedding venue. When asked what the highlight of the special day was, Sanmari responded ever so perfectly; “It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for an outside wedding. The biggest highlight moment for me was walking down the aisle, to Love Me Like You Do by Violence, and seeing Pierre crying. I couldn’t believe it, that moment was just so perfect and special. Even when looking back at our video and photo’s that moment brings back memories and tears of happiness.”
The ceremony was based on the theme on walking the marriage road endlessly Together. Naturally so, we asked how. “Firstly; we have points that we must not do: One being we cannot keep any secrets, secondly; we cannot go to bed being mad at each other, thirdly; we may not threaten each other to say if you do something I will file for a divorce and fourthly; we may not get used to each other.
Then we have points we need to do: Firstly; we must trust each other, Secondly; to not try and change each other and Thirdly; walk the road together with Jesus Christ. “
Just after the ceremony while the Pastor was giving us his blessing small rain drops fell upon us, God was blessing us as well.
It’s a day full of laughter, tears, and happiness. Every girl should have a day like mine. It’s special and a day nobody can take away from you and your husband. “

“Enjoy every single moment of your wedding. When people told me to embrace each moment because it goes by so quickly I thought it can’t be true and my day will be different, but in fact, it’s true. Don’t let anything upset or ruin your day not matter how big or how small, it’s not worth it.”
